The Algae Biomass Organization (ABO), the trade association for the algae industry, welcomed today T2 Energy, a company leveraging algae technology for beneficial reuse of CO2 from power plants and water from wastewater treatment plants as its newest Gold-level member. T2 Energy joins the growing ranks of companies and organizations that are working with ABO to develop algae into a source of sustainable chemicals, fuels, food and feed applications, as well as

Based in Vista, California, T2 Energy transforms waste carbon into opportunity; to transform sunlight into usable energy; and to create products that address global needs for food, feed and fuel. T2 Energy takes a portfolio approach to feedstocks and end products that will address environmental challenges and create economic opportunities around the world.

“The ABO has done a remarkable job in convening all the stakeholders in the industry, serving as a powerful advocate for policy and regulatory issues that support the industry, and helping to raise awareness of the power of algae to address some of our nation’s greatest challenges,” said Mark Randall, founder and CEO of T2 Energy. “It’s the right time for T2 Energy to join ABO as we move from the lab to pilot, and then commercial scale.”

T2 Energy deploys an advanced algae grow tank system that is augmented by its proprietary LipiTriggerTM growth enhancer. The system enables certain strains of naturally occurring algae to grow bigger and faster at the same time, and with an internal oil profile greater than that which is currently available in the world. These high performing sustainable oils and proteins are at price parity with today’s fossil, ocean, plant and poultry-based incumbents and can be used in a range of products including Omega-3 oils, biodiesel, bio-gasoline, bio-jet fuel, bio-chemicals and more.

"The Algae Biomass Organization has spent much of the past year pushing for carbon capture and utilization (CCU) to be recognized a effective climate change mitigation tool," said Matt Carr, executive director of the Algae Biomass Organization. "T2 Energy's model in creating algae technology that utilizes waste CO2 and wastewater to create sustainable resources helps to move the algae industry's initiative forward."

Products made from algae are the natural solution to the energy, food, economic and climate challenges facing the world today. This tiny but powerful organism has the ability to simultaneously put fuels in vehicles, reuse CO2, provide nutrition for animals and people, and create jobs for millions of Americans.
